Uta Kohler

Hi!

I live and study in Tuebingen, which is a small city in the south-west of Germany. My subjects in University are English and Russian, from next semester on also East European History.
I like the sea, especially the Mediterranean (it is the bluest sea in the world, scientifically proved, but I donīt know why exactly...:-) and the landscape all around it. I like snorkeling there and would also like to try the Red Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. So far, my knowledge of seas is limited, I saw the Atlantic from both sides, but never snorkeled there. And Lake Baikal, which is also called the holy sea in Russian. Swimming there is great, especially the first five seconds, because only polar bears could survive the next five.

I like travelling, as you can guess (and also meeting people of all cultures, of course!): I have been to America (Michigan, Chicago, New York, Alabama and Florida), Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, England and Russia (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Irkutsk and Tjumen', where one of the most interesting places is the cinema Kosmos).
I like the sun, reading, listening to music (The Beatles, Tom Petty, Mashina Vremeni and Boris Grebenshikov), spaghetti, James Bond, airports, travelling by car and stopping in road side cafes or on lighted filling stations in the dark for romantic impressions.
I donīt like first of Januaries, in general, but a great one I spent in Paris at the european Youth Meeting of the brotherhood of Taize. Which makes one possible that we all can reach a peaceful future.

I participate in the project WWW Irkutsk, and Iīm applying for a work experience project there this summer. This leads me to more ideological explanations, so if you are bored, skip that part ;-): I would like to help in that project, because I think that modern communication methods like the Internet can contribute to making the world more democratic because all nations can have the same access to information (and being informed protects human rights). The internet can bring different cultures closer together in understanding each other.

I am looking for more work experience projects (Praktikum, internship) especially in international humanitarian organizations or in the fields of publishing, media or teaching. The best time would be in my semester holidays (summer: July - October, winter: February - April). Click here for my Curriculum Vitae. Iīm not an expert in anything but have lots of enthusiasm, like to work hard and learn new things.
Do you know of any internship possibilities?
It would be great if you could drop me a mail (and about anything else, really !)

Tschuess, poka, ciao, bye!
